I qualified as a  Bowen Therapist with the European College of Bowen Studies (ECBS).   My tutor was Alastair Rattray, a physiotherapist and FA coach.

I studied Equine Bowen with Beth Darrell of the European School of Equine Bowen Therapy at Hartpury College, Gloucester (“equinebowentherapy.com”). I qualified as a pilates teacher at the Bdy Control Pilates ® centre in London and am on the register of Exercise Professionals as a Level 3 teacher.

I was so impressed with the effect Bowen had on my wife's health and well being that I decided to train as a therapist myself  with Alastair Rattray.

While she was a student Pauline tried a few basic Bowen moves on one of our whippets, Lisa, who has “Wobblers” syndrome (damage to the nerve trunks passing along the spinal chord in the neck).  At the time we were considering whether the best option was to have her put to sleep as her quality of life was very poor.  She no longer wanted to go on walks with our other dogs, was very withdrawn and had no appetite.  After only a few treatments the change in her was dramatic.  She was more active, keen to go for walks with the other dogs and her appetite returned.

My parents were dog breeders & I have been around dogs all my life.  Pauline and I used to work & race our whippets. I was  so impressed what Bowen could do I decided to become a Bowen therapist specialising in dogs.  I qualified as a y studying Canine Bowen therapy with Ron & Sally Askew of the European Guild of Canine Bowen Therapists (“EGCBT”)

I discovered the Bowen Technique following a riding accident in which I displaced a disc in my neck.  Over the next 2 years I suffered  muscle spasms & bouts of the most horrific nerve pains across the top of my head.  Conventional therapies helped providing I lead an inactive life.

After over 25 years working with horses I was not prepared to accept a sedentary lifestyle. So I started looking for an alternative.  Bowen has given me back my quality of life.  I can once again enjoy the 3 things I ever wanted to do - gardening; riding; running.  I can do them all without pain.

With Pilates I corrected the postural imbalances that I had developed as a result of my accident.   The overall effect sparked an interest in the bio-mechanics of the body & how to move without causing unnecessary strain which lead me to become a Body Control Pilates® teacher.
